Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: August 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Kin-Lung Wong, operating Treadmill Connect ("Treadmill Connect," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use the Treadmill Connect iPhone and Apple Watch applications, this website, or contact us for support (collectively, the "Service").

1. Scope

This Policy applies to the Treadmill Connect iPhone and Apple Watch apps, this website, and support communications. Treadmill Connect is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

2. Information the app uses

Bluetooth treadmill information

With Bluetooth permission, the iPhone app discovers nearby compatible Fitness Machine Service (FTMS) treadmills and reads the treadmill you select. Depending on what the treadmill provides, this may include its displayed Bluetooth name and workout metrics such as speed, distance, incline, and elapsed time. The app uses these values to show and record your workout. Treadmill Connect does not control the treadmill belt, speed, or incline.

Apple Health and workout information

With your permission, the app writes indoor running workouts and walking/running distance to HealthKit. It reads workouts, walking/running distance, heart rate, and active energy only to record the current workout, show relevant live or summary information, and confirm that the intended workout was saved without creating a duplicate.

When you choose Apple Watch recording, Apple Watch may collect heart rate and active energy through the HealthKit workout session. When you choose iPhone-only recording, the iPhone performs the workout recording. HealthKit permissions are managed by Apple and can be granted or revoked by data type.

Communication between your devices

The app uses Apple’s WatchConnectivity and workout-mirroring features to exchange the active workout’s state, treadmill metrics, biometric summaries, commands, and save acknowledgements between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch. This communication supports the workout you started and is not sent to a Treadmill Connect server.

Local workout and diagnostic records

To recover safely from interruptions and avoid duplicate workouts, the app stores limited workout records in its private app storage. These can include a random workout identifier; dates and times; the treadmill’s displayed name; recording mode; distance, speed, pace, incline, heart-rate summaries, active energy, and split summaries; save and synchronization status; app and protocol versions; and bounded, sanitized error messages.

The app does not retain raw Bluetooth FTMS frames or arrays of individual heart-rate samples in these recovery records. It does not use precise location, contacts, photos, the microphone, the camera, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking.

3. What the app does not send to us

The app has no user account, developer-operated server backend, third-party advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, or cloud-sync feature. We do not receive your treadmill metrics, HealthKit data, workout records, device identifiers, or app-usage history from the app.

Information stored in or synchronized by Apple services, including HealthKit and any Apple-controlled device backup or synchronization features, is handled according to your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy practices. Treadmill Connect does not operate those services.

4. Website and support information

This static website does not use cookies, advertising, analytics scripts, forms, or tracking pixels. GitHub hosts the website through GitHub Pages and may process technical request information such as IP address, browser information, and request logs under its own privacy practices.

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any other information you choose to provide. Please do not send Health records or other sensitive information in a support request.

5. How information is used

The app uses information on your devices only to discover the treadmill you select, present and coordinate the workout, save it to HealthKit, recover from interruptions, and reduce the risk of duplicate workout records. We use support communications to answer questions, investigate problems, handle privacy or legal requests, protect the Service, and comply with law.

6. Disclosure, sales, and tracking

Treadmill Connect does not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, use targeted advertising, or track you across apps or websites. The app does not disclose HealthKit or treadmill information to us or to third parties.

Information you send to us may be processed by our email provider. Website request information may be processed by GitHub as the website host. We may also disclose information we possess when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or complete a transfer of the Service subject to appropriate protections.

7. Storage and retention

HealthKit records remain in Apple Health until you remove them, subject to Apple’s behavior and your settings. The app’s local recovery records remain on the applicable device while needed for workout status, reconciliation, or safe retry, and are removed when the app is uninstalled, subject to operating-system behavior. Uninstalling Treadmill Connect does not itself delete workouts already saved in Apple Health.

We retain support communications only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, keep appropriate business records, resolve disputes, protect the Service, and comply with law. GitHub controls the retention of its website request logs.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

You choose the treadmill to connect, the recording mode for each workout, and whether to grant Bluetooth and HealthKit permissions. You can manage Bluetooth access in iOS Settings and Health access in the Health app or system Settings. Revoking access may prevent related features from working.

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you have sent us, email developer@valentinowong.com. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. Local app records are protected by iOS and watchOS app-container controls and device data-protection features. No method of storage or communication is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Health, medical, and safety limitations

Treadmill Connect is a fitness utility, not a regulated medical device, healthcare provider, diagnostic service, treatment service, or emergency service. It makes no medical claims and is not intended to diagnose, prevent, monitor, treat, or cure any disease or medical condition. Do not rely on it for medical decisions or personal safety.

Treadmill Connect reads workout metrics but does not control treadmill speed, incline, or belt movement. Follow the treadmill manufacturer’s instructions, use its safety features, and stop exercising if you feel unwell.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service or law changes. We will post the updated version here and change the effective date. If a change materially affects your privacy rights, we will provide additional notice when required.
